A facade from outer space

When it comes to learning more about aerospace, the CREC Academy of Aerospace & Engineering (Windsor, Connecticut, USA) couldn’t offer a more inspirational setting. Development and inspiration is certainly a theme which runs through the entire design of the building; from the laboratory rooms, to the facade itself which is reminiscent of the pixelated image one sees through the Hubble telescope.

This impressive project was completed using FunderMax Max Exterior F-Quality, 10 mm. In total 16 colours were implemented perfectly, Individual Decor was also featured and overall, 5,570 m² of facade was mounted.

The striking contrast between the black and the bold, bright colours simulates the vision captured by looking through the Hubble telescope and is therefore really evocative. The unusual design of the building has already lead to several awards, including:

  • 2016 Associated General Contractors, Inc. - Building Merit Award
  • CREW CT - The Real Estate Exchange 2016 Blue Ribbon Awards - Best Educational Project
  • CREW CT - The Real Estate Exchange 2016 Blue Ribbon Awards - People's Choice
